S. Halsted (about 3200)

Sunday 2:00pm. 2/14/10

Kind of a black & white color picture. Back in the undergraduate photo days, we would often discuss methods or combining black & white with color imagery in the same print. Back then it was not very effective with the print technology available at that time. Of course these days, it's a snap with the computer. Finding this window bathed in light on S. Halsted was thus a treat and reminded me when solutions were not as easily found.

Of course, the real purpose of this trip was to find food, with our original destination being Ed's Dumpling House, with the intended goal being Xiao Lung Bao, the dumpling with the soup inside. The Chinatown new Year's Parade had just ended and since this is off the beaten path of Chinese restaurants I had hope that Ed's would be half empty on a Sunday afternoon. But with a flow of customers entering and none leaving, we were told that the wait would be at least an hour. Our desire for the mouth-watering dumplings sank and we retreated to to Plan B or where we can find something to eat that's half decent. That turned out to be 123express.
