Guilin - Infrared City

Guilin 5/18/91
Over the couple of weeks I have been looking back at negatives that I have never printed before mainly because the exposures were so far off that my darkroom capabilities were not simply up to the task of printing them. Consequently I never knew what these frames contained until I began my scanning lessons.

Guilin - Infrared Photograph

Guilin. 5/18/91
The first or second day in Guilin. Konica Infrared 120 was a tough film for me to shoot as it seemed to have a very narrow range of acceptable exposure. On a roll of this IR film, I'm lucky if half the shots have any detail as I lost a lot to underexposure. The scanner is saving me again.
I'm trying to figure out this shot. I don't remember taking it or where i was. What likely happened is that i saw this while walking and only one shot was taken and forgotten.

Guilin - Big Fish
Guilin 5/16/91What's the story behind this fish? I don't really know as I only took one shot and that doesn't leave me much context to figure out why this shot happened. Google fish in Guilin and of course you'll come up with cormorants swallowing fish. It would take a cormorant the size of a house to swallow this one.

Guilin Revisited

Guilin 5-18-91
This is Guilin revisited in the sense that I rescanned the neg and processed it in PS instead of Elements. Elements works fine but after years of working with PS, it's a little like getting into a car and having to readjust the mirrors, seat and steering wheels as well as resetting the radio. Both will get you there but one is more comfy.
I probably know more about Guilin from what I've heard that what I've seen. In Yang Shuo I remember immediately thought that I had to come back. But that was in 1991 and I haven't yet returned.
